Semestre2_SE1
Word Grammar is a yearly compulsory course designed for the 1s-t-year-LEE students and extending over about 20 weeks. It is a part of the English subject, which is, in turn, a part of the fundamental Module of Languages (Arabic French and English). Apart from Word Grammar, the English subject in the LEE first year also contains the Strategies of Reading and Writing (abbreviated in French as SLE).
Word Grammar aims at helping 1st year-LEE students to recognize the different English parts of speech (nouns, pronouns, determiners, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, etc.). These parts of speech, however, are not going to be studied in isolation but rather in the context of a phrase (noun phrase, verb phrase, adjective phrase, etc.). Delahunty and Garvey (2010) defined the phrase as “a grammatical unit, intermediate between a word and a clause, which may consist of just one word (its head) or its head and expressions (including other phrases) that modify or complement it” (p. 277).Semestre2_SE1
